This film explores dissociation as a coping mechanism for queer and trans people, and the power dynamics of race and class in the suburbs through the lens of a young couple, Sunny and Eric. I drew inspiration from my own experiences growing up in a highly competitive, predominantly white environment and using dissociation as a coping mechanism to survive as a queer and gender-non-conforming person. With this film I intend to challenge the ever-present white gaze by creating the visual language for a queer gaze that holds characters with understanding and tenderness.
