This project is based on a short story my partner wrote which its themes of mental health resonated with me. Additionally, representation in media is important to me and I knew this story would place a queer Filipina in center frame. I saw the potential for the story to be told visually, encapsulating the nostalgia, grief, and communal comfort. When creating the script, I chose to tell this specific story because it fit well with my available resources to produce on a shoestring budget while also elevating AAPI actors I never worked with before and pushing my filmmaking further.
