I have been working on our short film “The Soup”, a dark comedy set in the rubble of Brexit Britain. The project hopes to tackle the issue of accent prejudice in a visual, comedic way. I have long been fascinated by the image we present to those around us, and the conflict between class and accents is ever-present in British society. I decided to frame the story around my father's experience of first being a blue collar worker before moving to a more prosperous area; and the guilt he felt from leaving that area behind.
