One of the things I love most about cinema is its ability to serve as a window into worlds far removed from our own. It allows us to discover unfamiliar realities and immerse ourselves in experiences we might never have access to otherwise.
The Oyster Man is a documentary about those who choose to stay, who cling to their land despite Venezuela experiencing one of the most significant migration crises of the 21st century. The oyster, as a symbol, intrigued me, often associated with luxury and exclusivity, it formed a sharp contrast to Gregorio’s humble, handcrafted way of life.
