About this submission

Born and raised in Hong Kong to a white, Texan mom and a straight-laced Chinese Dad, I began to struggle with my identity. I didn't know which parent I should listen to, what goals I should set for myself, what lifestyle I wanted to live, and quite frankly - if I should love the state of Texas or not.

While Asian-American representation is rare in film today, this story, set in rural Texas, provides a unique look and fresh perspective of Asian-American struggles that haven't been seen before. It happens to be my story as well.
