About this submission

Man and Masquerades is an experimental art film about Nwankeagu, a young violist and painter haunted by the trauma of witnessing his father, a respected masquerade, commit suicide. When he meets Gbenro, a popular celebrity, who is secretly abused by his wife, their unexpected encounter forces Nwankeagu to confront his painful past and begin his healing journey. The film delves into African masculinity, shedding light on the often-unspoken struggles of men burdened by societal expectations and rigid gender roles. It paints a powerful portrait of the emotional toll these pressures take on African men.
