I chose to tell this story because it is a personal and significant experience. I was a victim of childhood abuse, which deeply affected me. There were days when I was so scared to go home, but I didn't know how to ask for help or who to turn to. I wish my friends and teachers had known the signs and could have helped me. I want to share my story to process and cope with the trauma I experienced and raise awareness. I want to let others know they are not alone and that seeking help is essential.
I am a 19 year old filmmaker from Brooklyn, New York. Growing up in Brooklyn and interacting with those in my community inspire my films. Although as of right now my portfolio is consistent of one short. I’m truly passionate about film and want to prove not only to my family but to many others that being a filmmaker is a viable career path for the son of an African immigrant.
