About this submission

The inspiration for this story came from an incident at the house of the president of my predominantly white institution. During a silly game of "Would You Rather," I was asked if I’d rather go to prison for a crime I didn’t commit or be free for a crime I did. This question made me think about the mass incarceration of countless Black men and women.
From there, I crafted a story around the idea of someone being deemed guilty when they weren’t. I landed on a simple story about two women of color and their experience at a PWI.
