Kiera Williams is a purpose-driven filmmaker and alumna of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Gold program. As a storyteller, she is unafraid to tackle the complex, ugly, and confusing parts of life. Much of her work deals with grief, mental health, the nuances of reconciliation, and spiritual freedom.

The inspiration for this story came from an incident at the house of the president of my predominantly white institution. During a silly game of "Would You Rather," I was asked if I’d rather go to prison for a crime I didn’t commit or be free for a crime I did. This question made me think about the mass incarceration of countless Black men and women. From there, I crafted a story around the idea of someone being deemed guilty when they weren’t. I landed on a simple story about two women of color and their experience at a PWI.

Glass is a coming-of-age story about a young woman whose life is shattered when her best friend overdoses. She finds herself ostracized when everything she counted on, her friends, community, even her faith desert her.
