The Bridge: From Oregon to Industry

Sundance Collab is now accepting applications for The Bridge: From Oregon to Industry! The application deadline is Monday, March 22 at 11:59pm PT. To apply, log into your free Sundance Collab account and click the Apply Now button.

In today’s rapidly evolving film industry, the path from finishing a first film to building a sustainable career can be daunting. Between navigating complex legalities, securing financing, and mastering global distribution, independent artists often find themselves managing the business of film as much as the art.

Sundance Collab, Portland Events & Film, and Oregon Film have joined forces to launch The Bridge: From Oregon to Industry for up to ten selected artists. This hybrid program is specifically designed to be proactive in preparing Oregon’s writers, directors, and producers for the worldwide market.

Through a combination of live online sessions led by Sundance Collab industry experts and in-person sessions held in Portland, Oregon hosted by Portland Events & Film and Oregon Film, participants will gain the resources, contacts, and industry insights necessary to move their current projects and their careers to the next level.

This intensive focuses on the "second film and beyond" phase of a career, providing deep dives into:

  • Legal for filmmakers, budgeting and film financing.
  • Packaging, negotiating, representation, and pitching yourself.
  • Festival strategy, marketing and sales/distribution.
  • Meaningful interconnection with the Oregon filmmaking community and direct bridges to other industry leaders in independent film in the U.S.
  • Ten selected participants will gather in Portland, Oregon from May 8-10 for a high-impact curriculum. Portland Events & Film and Oregon Film will host the in-person sessions (including meals and workspace), while Sundance Collab delivers intimate online sessions with world-class advisors.
  • 1-on-1 Mentorship: In the week following the intensive, each participant will receive a private, online 1-on-1 session with a Sundance Collab advisor tailored specifically to their project’s needs.
  • Ongoing Access: All online sessions will be recorded and available to participants for one year via a private Sundance Collab portal.

We are looking for writers, directors, and producers who have already completed at least one feature length or short film that has screened at more than one festival and are looking for guidance to navigate the business of filmmaking and the next steps in their career. Teams of up to two people can apply.

  • Residency: Must be a resident(s) of Oregon for at least two years out of the last three calendar years.
  • Commitment: Must be available for the full intensive dates (May 8-10, 2026) and for a 1-1 session the week of May 11, 2026.
  • Applications Due: March 22, 2026
  • Selected Artist Notification: April 17, 2026
  • Intensive Dates: May 8-10, 2026
