Mixing genres is my favorite way to immerse audiences into a story. It keeps them on their toes in anticipation of what else can be flipped on its head. I wanted something horror-adjacent as well as something funny. Before my writer got to work, I made sure to hammer home campiness as a stylistic choice. Reality is far from what I like to visualize onscreen, and I think it’s wonderful as an audience member to figure out what ways reality will be bent while watching a surrealist film.
