As a kid I turned to filmmaking and family when I found out about my mom’s cancer diagnosis. What would have been amazing back then is if there had been a film about a young boy who refuses to accept his parent’s illness and instead embraces the ignorance of childhood, but finally realized that family is the answer, even though it also hurts. It would have been even better if it was about a jewish boy like myself. A jewish boy that knows he’s jewish but is still learning about his faith and realizing it’s more than just presents.
