I grew up in an extremely conservative suburb of Texas. Texas culture, to me, at that time was direct/indirect racism, football, tradition and uniformity. As a Chicana, I did everything in my power to not be seen as that. It was only until I left Texas, that I found my beauty, my worth. This film is for all of the kids I grew up with that were afraid to take up space, including me. It is for the kids across America who are facing the same thing and don't always get to see the beauty of their skin on screen.
