Davon Cecil is a young black storyteller from the heart of Kentucky with a pen and his imagination. Despite his volatile upbringing, he’s taken intentional leaps of faith. His passion and tenacity have led him to acceptance into highly competitive programs such as the 2023 cohort of the Nate Parker Foundation (NPF) Summer Film Institute, the Inaugural 2024 Class of Impact MENtorship, and the 2025 Soho House X Creative Futures Collective Mentorship Program. His experimental documentary, A Man, was an Official Selection at the 25th Annual Reel Black Men Short Film Showcase; his first narrative short, Taraji, being a NPF Alumni Summer Film Challenge finalist and SAGindie X Helix Collective Film Music Connect Shorts Competition winning film. His script “wake up.” earned SemiFinalist in ScreenCraft’s 2025 Short Film Competition & Coverfly’s Top 1% in Genre/Format. He aims to continue shifting the narrative, pushing boundaries, and breaking the mold.
