I am a daughter of immigrants, and grew up with their creative strategies to live here, which inspired Staged; a documentary of a woman getting her green card in the 90s. Policies have since shifted, but some things remained, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to discover that through film, all while getting a glimpse into what my own parents went through. I can’t technically disclose who the documentary was about, as its content is highly illegal, but it was someone intimately familiar, which made it of the utmost importance that I do her story justice.
