About this submission

Following the death of their father, two estranged half-brothers reconnect in their childhood home. When their father passes away and leaves his home in the care of older brother Melvin, Riley, the young photographer returns to where he was raised in to help. While Melvin adjusts to his new responsibilities, Riley attempts to reconnect with his father by going into his room which has remained locked.


Creator
Kiara Danae (they/she) is an independent filmmaker, freelance photographer and multidisciplinary artist based in D.C by way of North Carolina. Their work reflects the intimacies of the black southern experience, the construction and deconstruction of identity, spirituality and the complexities of the family dynamic though untold ancestral stories that long to be unearthed.
