Isabelle (my cowriter, producer, and leading actress) and I had wanted to collaborate for a long time. When we finally sat down to do it, we were very conflicted and confused by where we were in life. Friends were getting married, some having kids, and plenty in jobs they had no intention of leaving. Whereas the two of us felt dissatisfied and a forceful pressure to find those same things. Between these emotions and the political writing on the wall, we decided to tell the story of a female in a world ever so slightly more despotic than our present.
