About this submission

A photography student from Korea struggles to capture compelling landscapes of California. In the meantime, she is obsessed with her skin, taking painstaking measures to cleanse her face as it adapts to the dry environment. Frustration looms, regarding both her skin and artistic practice as she strives to see and grasp more clearly. But perhaps true vision lies not in control, but in surrender, allowing her photographic image and self-image to grow raw and imperfect—like proud flesh.
