I have always found documentaries to be such an interesting art form, largely due to the general MISunderstanding shared by most non-filmmakers and that is the idea that documentaries are "real life". But, as anyone who's spent time making a documentary knows, it can be just as manipulated as a narrative film. With many docuseries being released recently, which seem to utilize the trauma of their subjects to add intrigue to their stories, I found this moral grey area, and manipulation of reality inherent to certain types of filmmaking to be fascinating and worth exploring.
