About this Video
For Dad. 1949-2025.
This film organically arose from mining through years of my family’s personal archives and filming my day-to-day life in different formats (iPhone, BMPCC, 16mm, among others). Influenced by Jonas Mekas, Jenni Olson, and Chantal Akerman, I have always felt most drawn and connected to images that are hyperspecific, imperfect, and unique in meaning and context to the individual(s) that made them. I hope the narrative threaded throughout the film, one of personal exploration through imagemaking, will allow viewers to transpose, connect, and understand their own memories and experiences - lived, photographed, subliminal - through mine. The specific becomes the universal!
