About this submission

I am excited by world-building and telling stories that feel distant yet are rooted in our reality. What planet does this story take place on? This project (work in progress) was inspired by a summer of constant spam calls—conversations I often engaged in, which then unexpectedly gave me insight into new perspectives.

Cyprian Marona is a New York-based filmmaker working primarily in narrative. After completing short films 6L and One Eight Hundred, he leaned into restraint and quiet observation, exploring patience, duration, and shifting intimacy. His mid-length featurette Thumper is currently in post-production under the mentorship of Matías Piñeiro, following two men living in rural New Hampshire as routine, tenderness, and unease begin to fracture.
