New Hope

About this submission

I recently moved to the UK and confessed my feelings to someone I’d known for just two months—Jacob. The confession scene in my film is exactly how it happened, and while writing it, I cringed at how personal yet funny it was. After being rejected, I felt empty and miserable, consumed by thoughts of him. The film ends with a grandmother’s advice, inspired by my late grandma, reminding us not to let our happiness depend on others. It’s a message I learned after weeks of heartbreak, and I hope it comforts anyone going through rejection.
