Derya was born in Istanbul in 2000. She moved to Vienna to study Theater Film and Media at the University of Vienna in 2019. During her studies she worked as assistant to director, video designer and music arranger in various film projects and theater performances. In addition to her engagement in theater and film productions, she is also creating independent audiovisual projects. She has recently worked as director's assistant with Nathalie Borgers for her upcoming documentary film. She is currently studying editing at the Film Academy Vienna.
