About this submission

Minh finds herself in turmoil with her immigrant mother, Thu, the night before she leaves for college. Their argument would unravel the complexity of their cultural differences and open unhealed relationship wounds.

The film follows Minh’s last days resenting her mother. This expression of resentment is shown through their lack of communication and silences. Their relationship begs the question: is love worth any less if not shown in the way we want?

The film uses food and places as forms of visual expression, reminiscent of childhood and a representation of what their relationship once was.
