I chose to tell this story because when I was in high school I met my closest friend, and I wanted her in my life forever. I believed we would always be in each other's lives, but as we got older, things changed and we are as good as strangers now. I wrote this story to highlight how friendships can change over time, and how they can be as devastating and impactful as a romantic heartbreak. I wanted to explore themes of girlhood, love, growing up, and feeling lost as a young adult.
