About this submission

Dún Laoghaire is a memory piece based on my experiences visiting my grandma in Ireland and witnessing the reversal of care between her and her children. While you love and care for your aging relatives unconditionally, it can also be extremely frustrating to help someone who is so unappreciative of what you’re doing for them. When I’ve seen this dynamic portrayed on screen, it always feels either very sad or overly sentimental. To me, it feels more honest to show the anger, resentment, and even dark humor of this otherwise tragic situation.
