“Carry Tiger to Mountain” is based on my mother’s grieving process after the death of her sister. Her sister passed away in China shortly after my mom had immigrated to New York. My mom wasn’t able to return home; she couldn’t say goodbye properly. She said that in her mourning, she would see her sister in dreams and on the streets of New York. This film aims to illustrate the complications of grief and the immigrant experience. And the ways in which our dreams can provide solace and closure when we are far from home.
