Barendorfer amalgamates those disparate feelings elicited when returning home as a trans and queer person—childhood nostalgia, intrafamilial resentments over immigration, and the tension of visible queerness in a conservative community. Superimposed onto the film is a queer love poem. This project was inspired by my return to my ancestral home in rural Germany after many years away. My family was unaware of my social transition to present as a man until my arrival home. The film evokes that incessant swirl of thoughts, memories, dreams, and experiences which define encounters with ancestral places as a queer and trans person.
