About this submission

Anesthesia is about the inner relationship between mother and daughter under the culture where women are obligated to endure pain silently. The daughter starts to discover herself as a woman after her anesthesiologist mother gets into a hereditary illness. She finds that her mother was deeply aware of the cruelty of life, yet as an adult, she learns to suffer mutely, as society has taught her. At the edge of her girlhood, she is struggling with finding exit. Their fate is entwined, their pain recurring in a cyclical loop. Their mother-daughter relationship is intertwined with their physical and mental anguish.
