About this submission

I was very much inspired by classic african stories whose titles were lengthy stories in and of themselves ("the thing around your neck" & "kirikou & the sorceress" for example) to conjure the nostalgia of bedtime stories we were once told. I wanted to further distill this nostalgia by having the first passage recounted in rukiga, a western Ugandan language spoken by my mothers people. I have never seen this language utilized on film before and doing so served as a means of connecting a world that, to me at least, only existed orally.
