About this submission

"9 to 5" examines the psychological and existential toll of an increasingly oligarchic society where ownership—of property, stability, and even identity—becomes impossible. The protagonist’s repetitive, disoriented existence mirrors a future where corporations dictate our lives, turning wages into a cycle of dependency. This isn’t just economic—it’s deeply personal. People feel lonelier, connections grow weaker, and agency fades. The film evokes this reality not through explanation but through sensation—disconnection, exhaustion, and quiet dread. The audience may not articulate these ideas immediately, but they will feel them. And perhaps, in time, they will reflect. And maybe one day, they will act.
