Daniel Bott is a Writer & Director from Manchester, UK. He has shadowed on TV Drama, directed commercials and recently narrative shorts. Daniel was brought up in the north of England by two artistic disabled parents and is drawn to heightened social realism and unrepresented identity in the film as a result, he often explores these themes through an experimental and unconventional lens. Daniel has been working on set in Film/HETV, most recently travelling to South Africa to work on Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part Two. He ultimately aspires to direct long-form narrative work and is currently writing a feature based on his local pit-mining community in the 1930's.

An Ending, A Beginning

Creator: Daniel Bott
An exploration of the universal feelings of entrapment & isolation felt across the world during the Covid-19 pandemic told through contemporary dance. Set amidst a sunrise on the day the lockdown restrictions were finally lifted, the film tackles what it means to be free of constrictive restraints as a creative artist.

DO YOU STILL ASK ABOUT ME

DO YOU STILL ASK ABOUT ME

Creator: Daniel Bott
It was incredibly important for me to tell this story as I wanted to tap into the universal feelings of isolation/entrapment that engulfed myself and the entire world. As a recent graduate entering the world I wanted to utilise my limited resources, financial situation and embrace the restrictions set upon me whilst also exploring shared themes that are distinctly human like loss, grief and memory. I also used the concept to communicate my voice and evoke feelings of discomfort through a provocative commentary on the dangers of toxic masculinity in a world abundant with self help material and social pressures.
