About this submission

We're always told about the essential components of civilization, fire and water being the primary examples. However, I was lucky enough to spend some time in the Dominican Republic where I got to see how Wind had become an essential element of life for many small towns littered along the northern coast. The influx of industry, from food production to tourism, made me wonder why Wind was never included in that conversation with Fire and Water. I set out to explore the many ways in which the movement of air has come to define so many lives.
