About this submission

As an experimental filmmaker, I wanted to push the boundaries of student film by making a slow cinema short and illustrate tone rather than narrative. To explore the shadows that spill across the ceiling when you cannot sleep. It's a ghost story of a girl, haunted by her mother. I felt the need to visualize my complicated experience as a form of self-reflective expression. It explores the idea that today, the most palpable childhood memories are through home-video. The Girl is haunted by Mother, yet she can only envision her through early-digital camera footage, building to a climactic reconciliation.
