About this submission

This film - a work-in-progress - centers hostile suburbia; the dissonance and angst created by a place that makes traversing the landscape as an individual seemingly impossible. It is a road movie without a car, where the central character, Anis, attempts to meander through this beautiful but desolate expanse. At the heart of this piece is the friction between personhood and place. Our individuality is often entirely dictated or shaped by external forces but in this film, Anis rebels. She refuses to conform to the constraints of the landscape choosing instead to embrace impulse, uncertainty, and risk.
