Reed Platenius, a young professional surfer from Tofino, BC, Canada, has a special relationship with local board shaper, Stephan Aftanas. In a stunning visual and auditory experience set in Stephan's shaping bay, Reed recounts the story of his favorite board, lost to the sea in the biggest storm Tofino has ever seen and later recovered by a hiker. The board is his prized possession, still sitting in his room to this day. I chose to tell this story to display the beauty and art of shaping surfboards, and to shed light on this small surf community and young surfer.
