This is a film that is about the quiet stasis that lies in between moments of abuse, a stasis that carries the greatest pain and hope for victims. I created "The Bench" as a form of therapy where I painted my experiences of relational abuse onto a park I have visited many times in my life, allowing me to find closure through art. I want “The Bench” to make an uplifting impact on victims and survivors who will potentially view it, resonating with those who have seen someone else or felt themselves chained to a bench of their own.
