An imaginative queer teen, Shawn weaves in and out of his own fantasy world while struggling to understand his older brother, Rashad. After Rashad saves Shawn from getting jumped at a park, Shawn attempts to reconnect with his depressed brother. Yet Rashad, a man of action rather than words, is still rigid towards his soft brother. It takes their parents and Shawn's imagination to help them realize they are two caged birds ready to be set free.
