About this submission

After a family tragedy, the query, "What if I don't attend the funeral?" emerged, triggering a cascade of reflections on societal norms surrounding grief. This inquiry served as the catalyst for my film, questioning the obligation of funeral attendance and its impact on familial relationships. Why is deviation stigmatized? Does it signify disrespect/indifference? Why is grieving not a personal choice? Through the narrative, I sought answers to the unspoken inquiries that arise during moments of loss. This is my approach to every project—I begin with many questions, aiming to discover answers or, at least, find catharsis within my work.
