About this Video

My mother used to eat a whole pomegranate every night after dinner. I was moved by how striking the image was—her fingers digging, red juice splattering, the empty husk after she was finished. That image burrowed its way into my subconscious, and Holly Fontanetta, our writer, helped me to excavate and shape it into ‘Pomegranate.’ She drew from personal experience, as well as biblical mythology, to craft the story, and in the final script I saw a potential for lush, surreal, and emotive images. I believe that the final product is emblematic of our attitude toward experimentation and invention.
