"Plato's Effect" gives a glimpse into the night of two college girls; One naive (Lane), who had her heart broken by ex-boyfriend (Lucas) in the late night & one sensible (Cory), who is awoken by her devastated best friend.
In an attempt to comfort her, Cory stays awake with Lane despite her drowsiness. An hour later, Lane receives a distasteful message from Lucas. Lane realizes that the love she thought she needed isn't romantic, but platonic.
With a newfound love for their friendship, the two walk to a nearby park where they fully realize how significant their platonic love is.
