Pistachio is a story of coming to terms with your identity and relationship with love as a young bisexual woman. My experience was a nuanced and quiet one, hard to convey through words. I desperately wanted to portray a queer coming of age experience that the more silent people, those of us who hold a lot inside, could feel connected to. It's important for me to use my storytelling as a way to create comfortable spaces for people to feel understood in. I wanted people to feel that their hurt, sadness, and feminine love was understood in Pistachio.
