This film is about my grandmother's escape from North Korea. As she approaches 80, I wanted to create something that honors her legacy and the thousands of others displaced by the Korean War. Inspired by my grandmother's footsteps and her journey to freedom, I hope this story is one she can watch with me and feel seen.
In a world with constant refugee crises, I also believe it highlights immigrant sacrifices and the shared pain of many displaced families. This story is unfortunately common, so the film presents exile, inconsolable loss, and trauma as the unseen costs of freedom.
