About this submission

The Ida B. Wells Projects and Cabrini Green were exclusively Black communities consisting of row houses and extended high rises in Chicago that housed over 5,000 families. These community were demolished from 2002 - 2011 along with other 50 public schools as a part of the city’s Plan for Transformation. Promises made to rehouse residents were never kept and so residents from The Wells were separated and scattered across the country.

Two former residents who were displaced as children share their life experience, memories and wishes for their demolished childhood homes.
