I wanted to challenge myself to work with form, to tell a story primarily through visuals and editing rather than dialogue. I value working with fellow queer storytellers and this collaboration was the result of my partner, Gabby Gutierrez, and I using one location to illustrate a long told myth. Narcissus, to me, has always had an attachment to queerness, the following in love with one who resembles you. I saw the gendered aspect as a means by which I could relate to the narrative despite it being ancient and disconnected from me.
