About this submission

Summer 2020: My father experienced amnesia, onset by post-divorce depression. I left the abusive seven-year relationship I was, in a way, addicted to. And if this weren't enough to unspool good old, well-known reality, I also wound up scouring NYC for a missing friend following a meth relapse.

This warped summer opened my eyes to cycles of addiction fueled by core memories of lovelessness.

MIRAGE studies the role of nostalgia in love. It explores the misalignment between our inner-world and the world we share with others, the odyssey of leaving a relationship and the addiction of clinging to the past.
