“Max” follows Isabella, a closeted girl navigating her first queer relationship while she’s away at college. As she falls deeper and deeper into the type of love that makes you want to scream about it from rooftops—she finds herself unable to even tell her mom about it. Phone calls reminding her of her Catholic Mexican upbringing clash with intimate exchanges of a love she never thought she’d experience. She struggles between the fear of anyone learning about the relationship and the pain she’d feel if no one ever found out about it.
