About this submission

Lawn is an abstraction of romantic nostalgia, a film focused on the juxtaposition of love’s memory with its imagination. A woman reflects on a break-up and on whether to give her former lover a call. In this film, I use non-linear montage to tell a narrative as ethereal in aesthetic as it is tangible in feeling. As a filmmaker, my goal is to tell human stories with purposeful, dreamy unconventionality while leaning into the inherent surreality of bringing real life to film, and of my completed projects, Lawn is the film that most effectively embodies that aspiration.
