I adore filmmaking and awards season and everything French, and I love really character-driven films that I can explore new territory with in terms of directing actors (I directed the French character solely in French). Those were all fun elements that I got to play with, but at the core, I really wanted to tell a story about artistic expression and integrity, and what kind of social responsibility we face as creatives (both in our immediate circle of loved ones and to the world), if any, and how murky that can get.
