I wanted to tell a story that was inherently human but portray it through a character that is not. I thought the element of the protagonist being a groundhog would add needed comedy to the story, but would also allow the viewer to sympathize with something that we don't see portrayed on-screen every day. I also wanted to do my best at showing a realistic sibling relationship on-screen to mirror some instances I encountered growing up with a younger brother. Familial struggle ultimately motivated the final product that I believe gives a hopeful ending for our main character.
